However, President Donald Trump suggested that Colombia could be removed from this list next year if it shows further advancements in its fight against drug production and trafficking networks.
The Colombian government has expressed a commitment to address the entire drug-trafficking chain, including illicit crop cultivation, production facilities, trafficking routes, and the financial networks that underpin these activities. This comprehensive approach is aimed at demonstrating progress and eventually achieving removal from the U.S. list.
The decision to keep Colombia on the list and remove Venezuela reflects ongoing U.S. engagement and strategic focus on counternarcotics cooperation across Latin America.
