Advanced Racing Tech Powers 2028 ‘Days of Thunder’ Sequel with Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has announced he will once again take on the role of NASCAR driver Cole Trickle in a sequel to the 1990 film Days of Thunder. The new installment is slated to premiere in theaters on June 2, 2028. The announcement was made by Cruise this past Saturday at the Daytona International Speedway, coinciding with the NASCAR regular-season finale.

Joining Cruise in this highly anticipated sequel is Anne Hathaway, who will portray a team owner and engineer, adding a fresh dynamic to the film. Cruise will also be involved in the production, teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. The project will be directed by Jonathan Levine, with a screenplay penned by Will Staples.

The original Days of Thunder centered around the journey of Cole Trickle as he navigated the competitive world of NASCAR racing. Known for its thrilling high-speed sequences and memorable characters, the film initially received mixed reviews from critics but has since gained a devoted following among NASCAR enthusiasts.

This sequel offers Cruise the opportunity to revisit one of his early standout roles, bringing the high-octane world of NASCAR back to the silver screen. The film is poised to captivate a new generation of audiences, continuing the legacy of the original movie.
